Following her term of service and continued work with the organization, Emma was accepted into the Energy and Resources Graduate Program at UC Berkeley, where she studies policy approaches to equitable climate change mitigation.

Shayla Tommila
Shayla Tommila served as a Viva Bien, Coma Bien, Sientase Bien! AmeriCorps Member from 2012-2013, meeting with parents of children with special needs in the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) to better understand their struggles to find schools and programs with the resources to assist them. Her work inspired her to pursue a graduate degree and she was hired by HUSD where she is a Moderate to Severe Special Education Teacher.

Thuyen Tran served as a Birth & Beyond AmeriCorps Member from 2012-2014, facilitating parenting education workshops which provided parents with the education and skills to prevent families from entering into the Child Welfare System. Thuyen is currently a Family Resource Center Coordinator and is supervising AmeriCorps members at the same site where she did both terms of her AmeriCorps service.
